Tracking a new domain is a single form: paste a URL, hit add. But a lot happens in that same second — enough that it's worth spelling out, so you know what to expect the first time.
We resolve and dedupe first
Whatever you paste — a bare domain, a full URL with a path — gets reduced to its host. If you're already tracking that host, we don't create a duplicate; you're taken straight to the existing report instead.
An uptime check runs immediately
Before anything else, we run a live uptime check against the new host, so your report shows an up/down status right away instead of "pending" until the next scheduled check.
Your first scan starts in the same request
We kick off a full scan the moment the site is created and take you straight to its report page, where a progress bar tracks scanners completing in real time — no need to refresh. If the scan can't start (the scanning service is unreachable, for instance), the site isn't created at all and you'll see an error instead of an empty, stuck report.
We start looking for subdomains too
In the background — without holding up your response — we start searching for subdomains of the domain you just added and automatically track anything we find. That process runs independently and can take a little while; see our subdomain discovery post for exactly how it works.
What this means for you
From your side, it's one form submission. Underneath it, you get a deduped, already-checked, already-scanning site with subdomain discovery running quietly alongside it — nothing extra to click.
Add your first site and watch the report build itself in real time.
Frequently asked questions
How long until I see results after adding a site?
Uptime status appears immediately. The full scan streams in as each scanner finishes — most sites finish within a couple of minutes, visible via the live progress bar on the report page.
What happens if I add a domain I'm already tracking?
Nothing new is created — you're redirected straight to the existing report for that host instead of getting a duplicate entry.
What if the scan fails to start?
You'll see an error message and the site won't be added at all, rather than sitting on your dashboard with no data. Try again — if it keeps failing, contact us.
